Iraqi Army reaches Mosul University after liberating several districts

Alwaght - The Iraqi Army, backed by Federal Police, reached the eastern gates of Mosul University today, marking the first time in two-and-a-half years that the government forces have had any presence at this educational institution in northwest Iraq.

Prior to reaching the gates of Mosul University, the Iraqi Armed Forces managed to liberate a number of sites inside the provincial capital, killing and wounding a large number of terrorists from the so-called "Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham" (ISIS).

According to a statement released by the Iraqi Ministry of Defense, their forces liberated the Sumer District, along with the Al-Sadriyah Neighborhood near the central sector of the city.

The Iraqi Armed Forces are rolling through this Islamic State stronghold in northwestern Iraq, liberating more than 70 percent of this strategic city amid heavy resistance from the terrorist group.
