Alwaght- An Emirati military naval vessel was hit and destroyed by Yemeni forces near the coastal city of Mokha, al-Masirah TV reported.
The Yemeni Ansarullah movement and the army forces fired missiles at the warship off the coast of the Taizz province on Saturday.
The UAE is part of a Saudi led coalition attacking Yemeni cities on a daily basis since March 2015, with the UN putting the toll at over 10,000. The offensive was launched to reinstate Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi, a Saudi ally who has resigned as Yemen’s president
The warship was reportedly a high-speed logistical ship capable of locating mines, controlling military operations and transporting troops and equipment. Owned by the naval force of the United Arab Emirates, the war vessel formerly belonged to the US navy, al-Masirah said.
Ansarullah fighters working in cooperation with the Yemeni army have so far destroyed several hostile warships and boats.
