Alwaght- Iran Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani blamed on Tuesday the US and the Israeli regime as the root cause of growing insecurity in the world.
Larijani made the remarks in an address to the third meeting of the speakers of the Eurasia countries' parliaments in Turkey's Antalya, Press TV reported.
He said the ongoing woes in the world are the result of the US unilateralism and called on all countries to boost their unity in the face of illegal and unilateral measures.
"Unilateral measures by powers such as the US in dealing with global issues have created great problems and challenges for the international community," the top Iranian parliamentarian said.
He added that the "selfish, unilateral and illegal" move by the US administration to withdraw from a multilateral nuclear agreement Iran signed with the P5+1 group of countries in 2015 and to re-impose cruel sanctions against the Iranian nation showed "alarming signs" of the emergence of the threadbare dialogue of unilateralism in international relations.
US President Donald Trump announced in May that Washington was pulling out of the nuclear agreement, officially known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), which lifted nuclear-related sanctions against Tehran in exchange for restrictions on Tehran's nuclear program. The deal had been signed between Iran and the five permanent members of the UN Security Council -- the United States, Britain, France, Russia and China -- plus Germany in 2015.
A first round of American sanctions took effect in August, targeting Iran's access to the US dollar, metals trading, coal, industrial software, and auto sector. A second round, forthcoming on November 4, will be targeting Iran’s oil sales and its Central Bank.
Larijani further expressed certainty that the policies and approaches of some countries in different fields would affect development and pose a threat to international peace and security.
He stressed the importance of strengthening cooperation among the Eurasia countries' parliaments in a bid to resist against unilateral policies in the world.
He called on the Eurasia countries to sign trade agreements to remove tariffs, saying, "This is considered as an effective and practical measure to resist against trade unilateralism of the US."
"The Islamic Republic of Iran believes that members of this meeting should strengthen the trend of multilateralism more than before by adopting wise, balanced and active policies and redefine and promote the areas for political, security, economic and trade cooperation," Larijani pointed out.
He expressed the Iranian Parliament's full readiness to cooperate with the Eurasian countries to achieve their objectives and to help establish sustainable security in the region.
Speaking upon his arrival in Antalya on Monday, Larijani told reporters that the meeting is a great opportunity for development of economic and parliamentary ties among the Eurasian states.
He added that inter-parliamentary cooperation on financial and monetary conventions and environmental issues is among the key topics that will be explored at the Eurasian inter-parliamentary meeting.
The inter-parliamentary summit, which started on Monday, is attended by 20 parliament speakers and parliamentary delegations from 17 Asian and European nations.
The first and second editions of the meeting were held in Russia and South Korea, respectively.
